Franco arrives in Port Charles - let the games begin

I was happy to learn that James Franco would be joining General Hospital and the build up to his character's introduction was all it was cracked up to be.

The most chilling scene in the beginning was the way he waved at Jason Morgan as the limo drove away from the ambush. You just knew by the wave that Franco was going to be a nemesis for the hitman.

While the storyline thus far has been intriguing; I do have a few thoughts on how it's played out so far.

First of all, yes, Jason and Sam are once again together, but you would think the writers would have enough sense to include all of the show's history. I may not be a Liason fan, but the truth of the matter is: Liz is the mother of Jason's one and only child. Shouldn't Jason have by now at least warned her about the threat of Franco or even warned Lucky? It's like the writers forget the history of the characters based on the current storylines.

Liz may not be "in" Jason's life at the moment, but supposedly Franco has been following him for years. Wouldn't Franco know that Liz was a witness at Alcazar's murder trial? Wouldn't Franco know that Jake is in fact Jason's son and not Lucky's?

Another thing that screams inconsistency is the fact that Liz is an artist, she may be a nurse, but she is an artist. Why wouldn't Liz go to the biggest Art Show Port Charles has ever seen? She may not be directly involved in the Franco storyline, but the writers could have found a way to at least acknowledge the character's history.

So far, Franco has proved to be every bit the psycho the writers have wanted us to believe. Starting with the music they play every time they show his studio and pictures of all the players that are or will be involved in the storyline- again if Franco knows Jason so well; why aren't Liz or Jake's pictures anywhere to be found?

I like the way the storyline is playing out so far, but I think TPTB are really missing the boat with the Liz and Jake factor. Are we, the viewers and fans, supposed to forget the history of the show just because they omit certain details?

Again, I'm not a Liason fan, but I can at least acknowledge that they have history and share a child together. Why can't the writers? I realize that Liz has her own issues going on right now seeing as she's engaged to Lucky and sleeping with Nikolas behind his back (I'll leave my thoughts on that for another post); but a little heads up wouldn't hurt. Maybe I'm thinking too much.

Well, there you have it, my first thoughts on one of the more predominant storylines currently airing on GH.

I look forward to debating topics with all of you out there! Happy New Year!
